Gossip fuels fire
Gossip is like a fire. When fires break out, we always look for the source or the trigger. Often fights and contention break out in our lives and if we are smart we will look to see if there is gossip that is fuelling the fire. Stop the gossip – stop the fight.
Proverbs 26:20,21 – Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops. 21 A quarrelsome person starts fights as easily as hot embers light charcoal or fire lights wood.
What a great analogy this is. We know the importance of coal to fuel a fire. In the same way, gossip fuels strife and contention. Stop the gossip – stop the fight!
