6 goals for Christian discipleship from John 17
I believe there is some fantastic goals for Christian discipleship from John 17 here and they can be applied to the home, church or school.
Key focusses for Christian discipleship:
- Building a relationship with God (v3)
- Personal stewardship and training to finish the race strong. (v4)
- A goal to glorify God in whatever we do. (v5, 7, 8,10)
- Cultivating a love and passion for His Word – knowledge of and obedience to it (v6)
- Personal relationships with one another, cultivating a spirit of unity as we centre our lives around who Christ is (v11-12)
- Sending them into the world. (v18). We ‘shelter’ them to train them, but then there must be an application at all times to the world that we live in today so that they may be effective.
