Solomon A Man of Wisdom

Solomon was one who according to 1 Kings 4:29-34:

  1. Had wisdom
  2. Great understanding
  3. Largeness of heart – like the sand on the seashore.
  4. His wisdom excelled the great men of his day.
  5. His wisdom made him famous.
  6. He spoke proverbs and songs.
  7. He spoke knowledgeably about creation – trees, animals, birds, creeping things and fish.

It talks also about Solomon in this passage in 1 Kings 4 how the land enjoyed peace and great prosperity.  Wisdom I’m sure had a lot to do with this!  The foundation of wisdom is to fear God (Prov 9:10).  As we look to God may He give us the wisdom to raise a generation that will be smarter than the world, who will be famous because of the wisdom of God that comes out of their lives.  As a result, may we bring peace and prosperity to the land God has called us to dwell.

1 Kings 4:29-34

29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.
30 Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.
31 For he was wiser than all men–than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations.
32 He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.
33 Also he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish.
34 And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.
