When is the last time you stood before the deafening sound of a waterfall, or maybe rode the exhilarating rapids of a torrent of fast paced water?. There is definitely an awe about it and a healthy fear required around it. As you ponder these verses about the sound of God’s voice let’s remind ourselves of how powerful our God is and re-kindle that healthy fear of Him in our selves and the lives of our children. Often we can take God for granted or make light of who He is – the voice of God is truly powerful. Look up some of the biggest waterfalls in the world, or put on a track of what it sounds like – better still go find one around where you live and experience it in person!
I have visited Iguazu Falls in Brazil and it truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring!
God’s voice is even louder than the sound of those rushing waters!
Psalm 29:3 – The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
Ezekiel 43:2 -Then the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
Ezekiel 43:2 – and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory.
Revelation 1:15 – His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.
Take a moment to meditate on the voice of God speaking in your life. He is speaking… listen for His voice. Life itself is loud, we must listen to His voice above it all.
